Policy and Leadership Development
Leaders need to be strategically cultivated to build bridges between policy and practice, while supporting communities and the needs of those who are underserved. The BABRT recognizes the importance of influencing the introduction, enactment, or modification of policy. This can encompass a number of measures, including instruction on how to conduct campaigns, leadership education and development, communication strategies, as well as building legislative networks.

To this end, in 2009 The BABRT joined forces with Christine Pelosi, J.D., B.S.F.S. and U.C. Berkeley Extension to offer the Public Policy Leadership Boot Camp and a Public Service Leadership Forum. Read more.
The Boot Camp emphasizes skills-based training and coaching, as well as networking opportunities, so participants can build their own leadership capacity and develop the relationships needed to successfully accomplish their political or community leadership goals. Those enrolling in Leadership Boot Camp are encouraged to attend the Leadership Forum. Read more.
