BABRT’s Quarterly Meeting: January 26, 2012 10:00 AM Homewood Suites - 1103 Embarcadero – Oakland.  Meeting topics include: Project 100 rollout, Spotlight Awards Recipients:

Len Canty, Chairman at the Black Economic Council.   The BEC serves as an advocate for clarifying policies and practices, building economic infrastructures and streamlining access to both intellectual and fiscal capital. 

Ishmeal S. Reed, a prominent African-American poet, essayist and novelist known for his satirical works challenging American political culture, and highlighting political and cultural oppression.  Reed is a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Club of California’s Gold Medal.  He will make a presentation of his latest work.

BABRT collaborates with Christine Pelosi, J.D., B.S.F.S. and UC Berkeley Extension to Offer Public Service Leadership Boot Camp - Fall 2009

Through this unique partnership, activist and author Christine Pelosi brings her book, Campaign Boot Camp: Basic Training for Future Leaders, to the classroom providing short, concentrated lessons to hone skills in the key areas of message, management, mobilization and money.

The Public Service Leadership Boot Camp allows students a chance to connect with other aspiring community leaders who are influencing public policy while devising their own road map to transform dreams into action through social networks, nonprofits, and political campaigns.

Pelosi served as director of the AFSCME PEOPLE/New House PAC Congressional Candidates Boot Camp, which worked with over 75 challengers in 2006 and 2008. She has also served as executive director of the California Democratic Party, deputy city attorney and assistant district attorney for the City of San Francisco, HUD special counsel in the Clinton-Gore administration and chief of staff to U.S. Congressman John F. Tierney.
